ME-VLSI Design

About

The A two-year PG program – M.E. VLSI Design is offered by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in the year 2013-2014, to provide a broad knowledge and practical experience in VLSI Design with fundamentals in ASIC design, Digital and Analog design with six areas identified for Professional electives handled by qualified and experienced faculty members. The program boasts of an exclusive well-equipped lab with state-of-the-art EDA tools, FPGA & embedded processor-based development boards and computing facilities that is available to student use during regular and beyond regular course schedule. Students have access well equipped library with quality textbooks & reference books, and e-journals.

The program allows students to complete their Master’s thesis internally under the guidance of our faculty or externally through Industry experts with a strong emphasis on research and development.

Vision

To emerge as a centre of excellence in the field VLSI Design Engineering and to mould our students to become technically and ethically strong to meet the global challenges. The students in turn contribute to the advancement and welfare of the society.

Mission

  • To achieve, sustain and foster excellence in the field of VLSI
  • To adopt proper pedagogical methods to maximize the knowledge transfer
  • To enhance the understanding of theoretical concepts through professional society activities
  • To improve the infrastructure and provide conducive environment of learning and research following ethical and moral values

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOS):

  • To critically analyse and understand the principles involved in the designing and testing of electronic circuits relevant to industry and society.
  • To appreciate the concepts in the working of electronic circuits.
  • To take up socially relevant and challenging projects and to provide Innovative solutions through research for the benefit of the society with latest hardware & software related to VLSI and also to develop the capacity to protect Intellectual Property.
  • To Progress and Develop with Ethics and Communicate effectively.
  • To become entrepreneurs to develop indigenous solutions.

Programme Outcomes (POs):

  • An ability to independently carry out research/investigation and development work to solve practical problems
  • An ability to write and present a substantial technical report/document
  • Students should be able to demonstrate a degree of mastery over the area as per the specialization of the program. The mastery should be at a level higher than the requirements in the appropriate bachelor program
  • Understand the fundamentals involved in the Designing and Testing of electronic circuits in the VLSI domain.
  • Provide solutions through research to socially relevant issues for modern Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools with knowledge, techniques, skills and for the benefit of the society
  • Interact effectively with the technical experts in industry and society
