ANTI RAGGING COMMITTE

Anti-Rigging Committee in conformity Court judgments and directions, UGC guidelines and State Government Instructions. TJSCE is following ‘Zero Tolerance policy’ towards ragging. Any students of TJSCE accused and found guilty of ragging will be severely deal with in accordance with the provisions of the law .Ragging has ruined countless innocent lives and careers.it is now defined as an act that violates or is perceived to violate an individual students dignity .Ragging is totally banned in the campus and anyone found guilty of ragging and/or helping ragging is liable to be punished as it is criminal offence .TJSCE ensures strict compliance on the prevention of Ragging in the form.

Objectives

  • To prohibit any conduct by any student or students whether by work spoken written or an act which has the effects on testing, treating or handling with rudeness on fresher or any other student.
  • To bring out an awareness among the student about the consequences of ragging.
  • To keep a constant eye and vigilance over ragging so as to prevents its occurrence.
  • To address any ragging issues immediately as taken action as advised by the committee.

Anti-Ragging policy

Ragging in any form is totally prohibited in and outside the campus of T.J.S Engineering

College. The college is committed to follow all Regulations and Guidelines promulgated have the

UGC and other higher authority’s from time to time.

  1. Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an Act which has the effect of teasing or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
  2. Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship Physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher of any other students.
  • Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student.
  • Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher.
  • Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
  • Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students.
  • Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, and stripping, forcing obscene gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person.
  • Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student.
  • Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.

Power and functions:

  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  • Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits.
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation Process withholding results.
  • Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
  • Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.
  • To offer service of counselling and create awareness to the students.
  • To take all necessary measure for prevention of ragging inside the campus.

Complaint procedure

Any complaints of ragging should be made to the Anti-ragging committee by a student immediately of it occurrence. The committee should enquire within 24 hours and file a complaint with the police if a student or any other person is found is guilt of ragging.   • The Anti-Ragging Squad

The Anti‐Ragging Squad shall be nominated by the Head of the institution with such representation as considered necessary and shall exclusively consist of Members belonging to the various sections of the campus community. The squad shall have vigil, oversight and patrolling functions. It shall be kept mobile, alert and active at all times and shall be empowered to inspect places of potential Ragging and make surprise raids on hostels and other hot spots. The squad shall investigate incidents of ragging and make recommendations to the Anti‐Ragging Committee and shall work under the overall guidance of the Anti‐Ragging Committee.

The Anti‐Ragging Squad shall make surprise raids on the Hostel and Campus premises without prior notice or without affixed time schedule.

Periodicity of the committee

Meeting will be organized before the classes commence for the students. Meeting will be organized when the need arises. The committee members will be changed every year.
